Location: Nelson House, Manitoba

Summary:

Under the supervision of the Jordan’s Principle Case Manager Coordinator, the Maintenance worker performs a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled tasks in the maintenance, alteration and repair of buildings and related facilities and equipment as well as to perform other related duties as required.

Demonstrated Skills & Abilities:

  • Carpentry/Metal Work – performs rough and finish maintenance carpentry and plastering on commercial, pubic and residential buildings, installs wood shelving, repairs and replaces doors, windows, building hardware, fencing, and gates, repair roofing systems, and performs glazing and floor covering work
  • Painting – prepares surface for painting, uses brushes, rollers, and spray equipment, paints, metal primers and lacquers to paint and wallpaper a variety of interior and exterior surfaces
  • Electrical – inspects, installs, troubleshoots and repairs electrical fixtures, equipment and related apparatus including changing ballasts
  • HVAC – performs preventive maintenance on heating and air conditioning units and related apparatus, change filter, blowers and condensing fan blowers
  • Parts Warehousing/Coordination – inventories and maintains the current status of all materials, parts, tools and equipment required by building maintenance, determines when parts and materials are low and purchases replacements as required, locates and purchases non-stock building components required by Building Maintenance worker, processes invoices for payment, independently determines the most effective use of storage facilities, restocks salvaged and residue materials, operates material handling equipment including forklift, pallet jack and delivery truck and maintains warehouse in a clean, orderly and safe manner as well as perform light custodial duties
  • Marginal Functions – builds, assemble, and installs/repairs facility furnishing and fixtures, performs heavy equipment operation and other duties as assigned
  • Other duties as

Qualifications:

  • Two years of progressively responsible experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of building systems and components and/or building maintenance parts supply and inventory management work
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic arithmetic calculations, one year as a Building Maintenance worker or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must have a high level of personal integrity and professional initiative
  • Ability to speak an Aboriginal language would be an asset
  • A valid Manitoba Driver’s license would be an asset
  • A criminal records check and Child Abuse Registry check are requirements of all FCWC employment positions

Annual Salary:  $38,822
