Location: Nelson House, Manitoba

Summary:

The JP Land Base position reports to the JP Case Manager and is responsible for providing services to Jordan’s Principle clients. The JP Land Base worker will inspire and promote the development of culture of mental, emotional, spiritual and physical wellness and strength between the students. The Land Base worker will facilitate wellness and land-base activity for students attending school. Will also accompany the land-base team (Elders, Outdoor Education Teacher, Cultural Workers) on outside activities while acting as chaperones for students and assist youth by providing mental health supports during those outings.

Demonstrated Skills & Abilities:

  • Utilize their experience and knowledge to guarantee all programming meets students various
  • Work effectively in a team setting
  • Maintains encouraging relationships with students, parents, student support workers, external organizations, agencies and businesses in creating and sustaining supports and programming for the Jordan’s Principle
  • Conduct him/herself in a highly professional manner and must follow the appropriate guidelines regarding confidentiality as per NCN FCWC and JP Policies and procedures.
  • Enabling personal choice and treating Participants with dignity and respect, provide a caring approach to Participants needs (emotional, physical)
  • Follow the instructions given by the office, family, and Participants unless there is a safety
  • Is able to work in Participants home, in the community, school and with variety of families within a variety of time frames
  • Is able to work with children, youth, and adults with physical and intellectual challenges (both in challenging and non-challenging situations)
  • Is flexible to work in all areas in the community, school and home

Qualifications:

  • Degree in one of the following: Outdoor educations, Social Work, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of children from ages 0-18 years of age
  • Commitment to and knowledge of culturally competent/sensitive delivery issues
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must have a high level of personal integrity and professional initiative
  • Ability to speak an Aboriginal language would be an asset
  • A valid Manitoba driver’s license would be an asset
  • A criminal records check and Child Abuse Registry check are requirements of all FCWC employment positions

 

Starting Hourly Rate: $16.37 – $18.98/hour
