Family Enhancement Worker

Location: South Indian Lake Sub Office

Summary:

This position reports to the Unit Supervisor and is responsible for delivering resources to children and families with support services to keep them from entering the Child and Family Services protection system, by providing protective service opportunities and resources such as, facilitating awareness, education, advocacy and counselling.

Demonstrated Skills & Abilities:

  • Involve parents, extended family and community partners in identifying problems and participating in services and supports that address family needs.
  • Apply a variety of resources, develop case plans, coordinate the resources and supports needed and arrange relationships and networks to other community resources such as day programs, evening programs, respite services, family support and other culturally appropriate resources.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Knowledgeable in the Child and Family Services Act
  • Computer applications related to the work
  • Managing multiple tasks, often with completing deadlines
  • Handling difficult and sensitive situations, using sound, independent judgement within specific guidelines and regulations
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and be reliable
  • Must adhere to confidentiality when working with sensitive information
  • Must be willing to travel

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of CFS legislation issues and standards
  • Knowledge of Child and Family Services Information System (CFSIS) is an asset
  • Excellent assessment, interviewing and counselling skills
  • Demonstrated crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work loads and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and outlook
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as a team setting
  • BSW degree preferred with experience in child welfare or combination of education and experience in the related field
  • Enrolled or interest in the BSW program is ideal
  • Ability to speak the Cree language would be an asset
  • Must be able to work cooperatively with members of the unit and other areas of the FCWC
  • A valid Manitoba’s drivers license
  • A criminal record check and Child Abuse Registry is a requirement of all FCWC positions

This position is open to the North, travel, food and accommodations will be covered by the organization.

Salary:                                                 Starting at $50,605.00 annually
